Where did Ohio State land in Joel Klatt’s 2025 ‘way-too-early’ college football rankings?

The Fox Sports 2025 “way-to-early” college football rankings has Ohio State slotting in at No. 3, behind Penn State and Texas.

In the rankings compiled by Joel Klatt, Fox Sport’s lead college football analyst, Klatt cited the Buckeyes‘ loss of players such as TreVeyon Henderson and Emerka Egbuka, as well as their need “rebuild its defensive line” in the reasoning for Ohio State’s placement.

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) celebrates a touchdown during the College Football Playoff National Championship against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Jan. 22, 2025.

Klatt did say that Ohio State will have the country’s best offensive and defensive players in Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs.

The Buckeyes have Penn State and Texas on their 2025 schedule. Ohio State starts off the season against Texas on Aug. 30 and will host Penn State on Nov. 1.

Other Big Ten teams that made the rankings were Oregon at No. 5 and Michigan at No. 10. Ohio State’s national championship opponent Notre Dame was No. 6.
