Arizona Christian upsets Carroll College in Halloween basketball clash

HELENA, Mont. – In a Halloween matchup between the #8 Carroll College Saints and Arizona Christian, the Firestorm came out on top 69-59. 



HELENA, Mont. – In a Halloween matchup between the #8 Carroll College Saints and Arizona Christian, the Firestorm came out on top 69-59. 

It was the season opener for both teams, who were also NAIA National Tournament qualifiers in 2024. 

Both teams had a slow start offensively, but Carroll’s Addi Ekstrom soon found her rhythm. Ekstrom hit five three-pointers in the first half, while Willa Albrecht added two more, helping Carroll secure a 37-22 lead at halftime.

Ekstrom continued her stellar performance in the second half, scoring a total of 23 points and adding three rebounds. 

However, the Firestorm had their own standout player in Alyssa Alvarez, who ignited their comeback.

Alvarez scored 20 points, leading Arizona Christian to take the lead in the second half.In the end, Arizona Christian managed to upset the eighth-ranked Carroll College with a final score of 69-59.
