Spann announced on X, formerly Twitter earlier this month that she has made a college commitment, pledging to play at Shippensburg University next fall.
“There were many factors that sold me on committing to Ship,” Spann told PennLive. “One of the biggest being the coaching staff. They truly accepted me in and treated me as one of their own from the beginning of my recruiting process.”
“This separated them greatly from my other options. I knew I wanted to be at a school with a successful, accredited coaching staff with strong core values and I found just that at Ship.”
Spann averaged 11.3 points per game last season for CD East, grabbing 134 rebounds, earning third-team all-conference.
The 5-foot-10 Spann says Shippensburg plans to use her as a stretch small forward, expecting her to facilitate and play in the small post.
“I’m committed to being the best version of myself and with that comes the willingness to put additional work in outside the gym,” Spann said. “There is always work to be done, along with enhancing my overall game, and that is not something I shy away from.”
“I’m an avid learner and I strive for excellence in everything I do.”
And after deciding between various other D3 and PSAC schools, she’s just thrilled she ended up at her No. 1 choice.
“It feels amazing,” Spann said. “I am beyond blessed to be able to continue my athletic career at the next level. It’s a huge relief knowing I am committed especially to my top choice of schools.”
“It truly sets in that all the work and countless hours have paid off and only further excites me for my future at Ship.”
