Extremely Sweaty Doug Gottlieb Loses To Alma Mater In College Basketball Coaching Debut

Former college basketball star turned media blowhard member Doug Gottlieb made his college basketball coaching debut on Monday for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Gottlieb and the Phoenix actually impressed against his alma mater, Oklahoma State before eventually falling, 89-76.

But all anybody could talk about during and after the game was a viral picture of an extremely sweaty Gottlieb clearly stressing out over a tight game.

For Ohio State player Mark Titus posted a picture of Gottlieb with all types of sweat stains early in the second half with his team trailing.

“College basketball has Gottlieb in h—, man,” the tweet read.

As a fellow sweater, I can empathize with Gottlieb, but Twitter, as it’s accustomed to do, showed him no mercy.

Gottlieb has aged six years since August,” one fan wrote.

Doug’s gotta switch to athleisure ASAP,” said another.

Doug Gottlieb Sounds Optimistic About UW-Green Bay Despite OK State Loss

Despite the loss, Gottlieb was in good spirits postgame when he discussed returning to the university where he became a college basketball star.

“There was no nerves,” he said.  “Just joy, gratitude and excitement… My life trajectory as a human being changed because of this place. It’s always been home.”

Now he has a tall task ahead of him.

Green Bay went 18-14 in the Horizon League last year under Sundance Wicks. The program has just one NCAA Tournament appearance since the turn of the century. That came in 2016 as a 14-seed under head coach Linc Darner.

So if Gottlieb hopes to move up the ladder, he’ll have to do so at a school with little historical success.

But it appears he has a plan. Gottlieb already presented alternate ways for the Phoenix to kickstart a turnaround and he appears to be excited about getting the opportunity.
