How to watch, stream Gonzaga vs Baylor men’s basketball, 11/4/24

SPOKANE, Wash. — The No. 6 Gonzaga Bulldogs and No. 8 Baylor Bears will kick off the 2024-25 men’s college basketball season Monday at 8:30 p.m. Pacific at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and can be streamed on FuboTV, which offers a free trial.

The heavyweight battle and top-10 matchup is a rematch of the 2021 national championship game, in which the Bears defeated the Bulldogs 86-70. It serves as the main event for opening night of college basketball and is the only game between two ranked opponents.

Baylor is coming off a season that ended in the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 72-64 loss to Clemson. The Bears lost four of five starters from last year but have added highly regarded transfers Jeremy Roach (Duke) and Norchad Omier (Miami), as well as freshman recruit VJ Edgecombe, all of whom will make their Baylor debuts against Gonzaga.

Baylor is ranked 11th in the KenPom rankings, just two spots below Gonzaga at No. 9. The team has the potential for a deep NCAA tournament run, though it may need time to develop chemistry with four new starters. Transfer Norchad Omier averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds per game last season, recording 17 double-doubles for Miami.

Roach is also expected to make a significant impact, having averaged 14 points per game and shooting nearly 43% from 3-point range at Duke, which could help Baylor’s outside shooting.

Gonzaga returns seven of its top eight scorers from last season, with Anton Watson the only departure due to graduation. The team’s familiarity with one another could be key to a victory, but Baylor’s talent and 3-point shooting may keep the game close.

Gonzaga was among the highest-scoring teams in the NCAA last year, averaging 84.5 points per game and often wearing down opponents with pace control. Baylor also averaged more than 80 points per game, ranking 29th nationally. Gonzaga’s ability to control the game’s tempo will be crucial to getting quality possessions and taking good shots.
